“We are all the same being in different disguises.”

These paintings are my attempt to record the contrasts in my neighborhood. We live in a world of varying ethnicities, socio-economic situations, gender identifications and sexual orientations. This aspect of Middle Tennessee life is no more apparent than in East Nashville. Some of the people I paint have no home and ask for assistance when in need. Others maintain jobs as grocery store cashiers or agency administrators and others are long-time residents. Sidewalks connect streets and neighbors within East Nashville. These pedestrian-friendly sidewalks also allow me to view the differences from the towering skyline architecture against the lush landscape and botanicals.
